Our throwers (veterans and newcomers alike) got the 2010 Track & Field season off to a great start at the BYU Cougar Invite on Friday night. Senior Sarah Grimm dominated the 20lb weight throw with a great series of throws. Her winning toss of 59-9.25 is a new life time best and was two feet better than the second place effort. Freshman Nikkie Rudder finished 8th with a personal best effort on her final throw of 46-9.5
In the shot put Rudder finished third overall and had three throws that were further than her life time best. Her best of those was 43-10.5 which was a whole foot further than her previous personal best.
I thought all of our throwers performed very well. We had several personal bests so it's hard to ask for much more. Sarah threw with great confidence and Nikkie certainly didn't look like a freshman in terms of her poise and competitiveness. It was a fun evening.
